Ever since I can remember, I have been fascinated by the underlying design and physical structure of "things." This fascination influenced my choices to study Art History, Ceramics and Nursing as well. The intensive hours I spent reading the writings of artists and Art Historians while contemplating masterful works of art and architecture attuned me to the various aspects of composition as well as to the elements that are integral to an impressionable work of art. While these elements vary, depending on the medium, most aesthetically pleasing works give attention to what I refer to as, "the sublime and reigning beauty of the line.”
In 1991, two years after receiving my Art History degree, I embarked on a 5-month tour of Western Europe. It was a magical journey wherein I devoted myself entirely to visiting the many marvelous museums, cathedrals and architectural masterpieces that grace the landscapes there. As well as enjoying the local cuisines and finally “acquiring” a taste for beer, thanks for which I owe to the Belgians, the experience secured my love affair with art and design, . My D’Vine Dezigns jewelry line can be noted for their strong conceptual designs marked by architectonic features and reflective surfaces, which naturally invites the elusive movement of light into my pieces. My Leaf Motif line pays homage to my fascination with the “ underlying structure” of natural forms, and expresses my love of nature, the ultimate and most supreme designer and artist of all.
